Set a reachable goal

About two pounds a week is a good goal to start off with which is both reachable and not harmful for your body.

Checking it every day may not provide you with the results you are hoping for and may again be a reason for dissatisfaction, leading to your going off the weight loss diet. Also, if your scale is giving you a reason to frown about, pick up your tape measure and measure yourself, you might find a reason to smile and stick to your weight loss diet.
Shop smartly
Make it a point to go shopping on a full stomach, this will help prevent the temptation to buy rich and high calorie food items which can wreck havoc on your weight loss diet. By not keeping such foods in your fridge, you avoid the temptation to splurge at a later time.
Reward yourself
For every five pounds you lose, reward yourself by going for a movie or a nice relaxing massage. This will keep you motivated and get you to stick to your weight loss diet.
